Hiking in the Saint-Eustache region
Do you hear Mother Nature beckoning? She’s hard to ignore, especially when she’s right next door. That’s why for many in the Saint‑Eustache area, nothing beats hiking on a beautiful day. The only question is, which hike? To help you make your decision, we’ve drawn up a list of our favourite wilderness destinations. Happy hiking and exploring!
Parc régional de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
Set along the St. Lawrence River, Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Regional Park is the largest wildlife sanctuary in the Greater Montréal area. Impressive! With all the hiking trails and picnic areas, you’ll have the chance to observe hundreds of species in their natural habitat. A stunning destination the whole family will want to visit again and again!
Parc national d’Oka
Located on the outskirts of the Greater Montréal area, Oka National Park is full of surprises. Head out on well‑maintained and accessible trails and delve into the park’s unique history and wildlife. Better yet, climb to the top of Calvaire d’Oka for an exceptional view of Lake of Two Mountains and the Adirondacks.
Domaine Lafrance
Why not combine hiking with delicious flavours? Located in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, Domaine Lafrance is an agritourism farm with a selection of apple and maple products. The sugarbush in the mountain boasts a little-known hiking trail that’s very pleasant, along with a picnic area. Perfect for gourmet hikers!
Marche d’Alphonse
Notice to seasoned hikers: Alphonse Walk is no walk in the park. It’s a 100 km, adventure‑filled pilgrimage that takes four days to complete (if you cover 21‒27 km per day). It leads you through streets, country roads, bike paths, footpaths, and even some of the trails in Oka National Park.
PLEASE NOTE: Reservation is required for the hike. Contact Tourisme Basses-Laurentides for more information.
That concludes the list of our team’s favourite hikes in the Saint-Eustache area. Go ahead and explore these trails with your friends. Nature is even more beautiful when shared. Have fun hiking this summer!
