A formula that’s just right for you
The Promutuel Insurance Academy is a program of paid training and ongoing support. During this 12 to 14-week course, you’ll learn the basics of what you need to know to work as a damage insurance agent or claims adjuster at Promutuel Insurance.
Your training will be adapted to your career path. If you don’t have your licence from Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), you’ll start with the courses you need to take those exams. When you get your licence from the AMF, or if you already have it, you’ll start learning our procedures, standards, and systems so you can carry out the job you’ve chosen. You'll complete your training by joining your new team and helping our insured members.
You'll alternate between in-person or virtual theory classes and practical work for hands-on learning. You’ll also be able to observe our teams in the field and listen to calls to help you better understand the theory you’ve learned. After your training, you'll begin your new career with pride and confidence!
Our training team will provide you with ongoing support during your time at the Promutuel Insurance Academy. In return, we require those who participate in the training to be involved and invested in their learning and to be motivated self-starters. You’ll need to listen actively, read intensively, and take copious notes.
Two rewarding career choices
The Promutuel Insurance Academy will train you to become either a damage insurance agent or insurance adjuster. Both these jobs are central to our daily insurance work, as they represent the “before” and “after” of a situation where the insurer must intervene.
Damage insurance agents are responsible for advising and maintaining a relationship of trust with our insured members by providing coverage tailored to their circumstances. So they have to analyze their clients’ current and future needs for car and home insurance and suggest appropriate products and services. Their job is to provide outstanding customer service and respond to requests in an attentive and caring manner.
The primary responsibility of claims adjusters is to investigate claims. They have to analyze and validate a variety of reports, determine the eligibility of claims based on the insurance policies, determine the compensation amounts to be paid, and forward settlement offers to insured members. Empathy and communication skills are central to their role.
Both positions targeted by our training require you to have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to work meticulously and think independently. You need to be able to work in a team and make accurate analyses in order to provide a service tailored to each situation. How you handle the cases assigned to you will have a direct impact on the way people affected by a loss experience the situation. You'll make a real difference in the daily lives of Quebecers, both before and after the event.
