Émilie BéginVice-President – Strategy and Innovation |
Émilie Bégin, Vice-President – Strategy and Innovation at Promutuel, holds a degree in business administration from École des hautes études commerciales de Montréal and has a natural ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions for business model transformation.
“I chose business strategy precisely because it requires a good deal of intellectual curiosity,” says Émilie, who appreciates the diversity of management styles. She likes the concrete nature of her field: “You feel like you can make an impact.” According to her, a realistic plan is a driver of success: “An executable strategy provides the continuity that everyone is looking for.”
Émilie is clearly willing to lend a hand and help make a difference. This is what led her to join Promutuel Insurance: “The social impact of what we do, even on a small scale, is very important to me. It’s a catalyst for employee engagement.”
According to Émilie, the shift around climate change is creating a ripple effect that makes social entrepreneurship and the circular economy meaningful. “Change will happen through the actions of corporate citizens.”
She is confident that her team can move forward by working together: “We’ll use the company’s collective intelligence to shape the future.”
Putting everyone’s energy into ensuring that planning, innovation, and products evolve with the needs of priority clients while generating value for members, and giving back to communities are not only goals, but exciting challenges—challenges she will be tackling at Promutuel Insurance.
More about Émilie...
Why did you choose promutuel insurance?
I was attracted by the organization’s culture. At Promutuel Insurance, there is a real sense of caring. Human closeness is in our DNA.
How do you define being there?
I am reminded of this anecdote: A fire broke out in the middle of the night, forcing the occupants of a building out on the street. As firefighters battled the blaze, the Promutuel team provided comfort by distributing blankets to the victims. I call that being there for the right reasons.
A quote you live by?
Nelson Mandela’s words resonate with me: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.”
Do you have any hidden talents?
To stay in shape, I went back to figure skating, my favourite sport when I was younger. I like the sense of freedom it gives me. The exhilaration of doing new tricks is a motivator. The triple toe loop is not on the menu, but I know how to land on the right leg when I do an axel. That inspires me in my daily work. I like my projects to get where they need to go.
Sweet or salty?
Definitely salty. I love salmon tartare. It’s an absolutely perfect blend of textures and flavours.
