Promutuel Assurance reveals the three winners of the Mérite Promutuel de la prévention

Québec, October 3, 2014 — On the occasion of the regional awards gala for the 125th edition of the Ordre national du mérite agricole contest, Promutuel Assurance is pleased to reveal the names of the three winning businesses of the Mérite Promutuel de la prévention.

Among all the businesses entered in the contest, three stood out in the area of prevention:

  • Bas-Saint-Laurent region: Ferme Jeannicole inc., of Kamouraska, dairy cattle
  • Gaspésie−Îles-de-la-Madeleine region, Ferme Cap-Rouge S.E.N.C., of Bonaventure, dairy cattle
  • Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean region, Productions Rivard (9092-1248 Québec inc.), of Saint-Ambroise, potatoes

  • Among these three regional winners, the operators of the Ferme Jeannicole inc. stood out by accumulating the greatest number of points in terms of farm security. They win the honours for the national component and will receive their trophy at a ceremony that will be held on November 7, 2014 at the Assemblée nationale du Québec. This same company also won the top prize for the national component in 2009, which shows that prevention is at heart of its priorities.

“I warmly congratulate the three winning businesses of the Mérite Promutuel de la prévention! For a 22nd year, Promutuel Assurance is very proud to be a major partner of this contest, which rewards the determination and talent of Quebec farmers,” said Omer Bouchard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promutuel Assurance.

Each year, this contest recognizes the know-how of a different territory of Québec. This year, it involved the following five regions: Abitibi-Témiscamingue−Nord-du-Québec, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie−Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean and Côte-Nord.

The Mérite Promutuel de la prévention was introduced 21 years ago, to recognize the efforts made in this area. Prevention on farms has always been very important for Promutuel Assurance.

“Farm security must be a priority. We want to encourage innovation to create a safe workplace and draw attention to the importance of implementing preventive measures. Through our contribution, we are pleased to recognize prevention initiatives through this prestigious contest year after year,” concluded Mr. Bouchard.
